On April 9th, actress Horikita Maki attended the official departure ceremony of a train wrapped with advertisements for her NHK morning drama ‘Umechan Sensei‘ at the Shinagawa Station in Tokyo.

Horikita Maki attends preview screening of her morning drama ‘Umechan Sensei’

On March 14th, the first week worth of episodes of the upcoming NHK morning drama ‘Umechan Sensei‘, starring Horikita Maki, was screened in advance for the press.

‘Umechan Sensei’ features an original story about a clumsy woman who strives to become a town doctor in an era of postwar reconstruction and rapid economic growth. In the beginning of the drama the heroine is still 16 years old, but by the end of the story she is already supposed to be in her mid-thirties. A difficult challenge for Horikita, who moreover has to tackle her first role as a doctor with this drama. The script was written by Ozaki Masaya (“Kekkon Dekinai Otoko”, “Oniyome Nikki”).

On Feb 5th, Maki attended a stage greeting in Tokyo to celebrate the box office success of “ALWAYS San-chome no Yuhi ‘64”. The movie’s total attendance topped at 1.5 million people since its premiere on Jan 21st. During the stage greeting, the cast members were asked of any stories related to the movie.

“ALWAYS 3″ cast reflects on the past seven years

On January 21st, the final installment in the “ALWAYS” trilogy, “ALWAYS San-chome no Yuhi ‘64“, opened nation-wide on 473 screens.

As usual, there was a stage greeting held at a cinema in Tokyo in order to celebrate the opening, which was attended by the main cast members like Yoshioka Hidetaka, Tsutsumi Shinichi, Yakushimaru Hiroko, Horikita Maki, Miura Tomokazu, Moriyama Mirai, and Suga Kenta, as well as the director, Yamazaki Takashi.
